Riot Games cancelled its unannounced fighting game "Pool Party", similar to Super Smash Bros., due to consumer interest concerns and MultiVersus' success.
Riot Games reportedly cancelled an unannounced fighting game codenamed "Pool Party", which was similar to Super Smash Bros. and set in the League of Legends universe. The platform fighter, developed by a team of around 70-80 developers, was cancelled due to concerns about consumer interest in a Smash Bros competitor and the success of Warner Bros' MultiVersus. Some developers were reassigned within Riot Games, while others sought new roles internally. Riot Games is currently developing its 2D fighter, "2XKO", set to release in 2025.
