Kenyan President William Ruto vows to confirm all Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers as permanent employees before the year ends, despite financial challenges and budget cuts in the education sector. Ruto's government plans to employ these JSS teachers currently on internships at a cost of Sh18.3 billion. However, the recruitment of 20,000 new teachers this year has been suspended due to budgetary constraints.
