Kenyan marathoner Lawrence Cherono, former winner of the Boston and Chicago marathons, has been banned for seven years for doping and attempting to use fake documents to explain a positive drug test. Cherono tested positive for trimetazidine in 2022 and was suspended before competing at the World Athletics Championships. The ban is backdated to the start of his provisional suspension, potentially ending his top-level career at age 35.
