Italian authorities confiscated nearly $1 million worth of fake olive oil in the Puglia region, arresting seven individuals accused of criminal conspiracy, adulteration of food substances, fraud in public military supplies, and tampering with food for export. The raids involved 18 garages and warehouses, where 42 tons of extra virgin olive oil were seized, alongside 71 tons of "oily substance" and 623 liters of chlorophyll. Packaging equipment and labels falsely claiming the oil was extra virgin were also discovered.
