High Court in Dublin rules St. James's Hospital not liable for Carmel Germaine's psychiatric injury due to husband's lung cancer death.

The judge found that the hospital's negligence did not cause Mr. Germaine's decline, which would have occurred in any event, and that two of the five conditions necessary for someone to be entitled to damages for "nervous shock" were not met.
