Deaf women face twice the domestic violence rate, with physical/sexual abuse 20 times higher in Deaf communities, due to exploitation of their disability.

A study by the Royal Commission has found Deaf women are twice as likely to experience domestic violence compared to hearing women, with physical & sexual abuse up to 20 times higher in Deaf communities. Perpetrators exploit victims' disability by damaging communication devices, making it difficult for them to report abuse. The Deaf community calls for better support for Auslan interpreters & increased awareness among law enforcement to recognize and prevent abuse.
