Chinese seaport cities registered a record-high added value of 6.2 trillion yuan ($869.05bn) in 2023, accounting for 13.4% of their total economic output, according to a report released by the Transport Planning and Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. The added value increased by 192.9bn yuan from the previous year. The Yangtze River Delta region emerged as the most developed area, contributing 44.7% of the total added value. The report assessed the port economic development of China's 59 seaport cities.
