All-Ireland winning Clare hurler Niall Gilligan has appeared in court charged with assault causing harm to a 12-year-old boy. The 47-year-old farmer and auctioneer is accused of assaulting the child at the Jamaica Inn Hostel in Sixmilebridge, and is also charged with producing a wooden stick during a dispute. Gilligan denies both charges and his solicitor stated that the matters will be fully defended.
