Supreme Court upholds maintainability of West Bengal's suit against Union Government's CBI interference.

The Supreme Court has upheld the maintainability of West Bengal's suit, accusing the Union Government of interfering in cases originating within the state's jurisdiction by unilaterally authorizing the CBI to probe them. The Court ruled that the Bengal government's suit, alleging that the CBI continues to investigate cases despite the state's withdrawal of general consent on November 16, 2018, is maintainable. The matter will be heard on its merits on August 13.
