The Supreme Court has sought the Odisha government's response on a plea for premature release of convicted murderer Dara Singh, who is serving a life sentence for the 1999 killing of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines and his two sons. Dara Singh's advocate, Vishnu Shankar Jain, argued that Singh, who has spent over 24 years in prison, has repented his actions and seeks to give back to society through his service-oriented actions. The court issued notice to the Odisha government and asked for a response within six weeks.
