Nebraska's DHHS may have paid $12.8M in fraudulent/inflated childcare subsidies, according to a state audit.

Nebraska's Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) may have paid out $12.8M in fraudulent or inflated childcare subsidies, according to a state audit. Auditor Mike Foley's office discovered potential double or triple billing, billing on holidays when providers were closed, and insufficient attendance log information in a review of HHS's Child Care NFOCUS Aid Payments. The DHHS is working to recover funds and collaborate with the State Auditor's office to reform the department.
