A man was caught attempting to smuggle over 100 live snakes, including non-native species, into mainland China by hiding them in his trousers. The unidentified individual was stopped by customs officers in the border city of Shenzhen as he tried to leave Hong Kong. The snakes, including milk and corn snakes, were found in sealed canvas drawstring bags in the man's trousers pockets. China has strict laws against bringing in non-native species without permission, and authorities have been cracking down on animal trafficking in recent years.
