Kaspersky researchers identify government, energy, and telecom sectors as primary targets of Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups in Africa. These groups, often motivated by espionage, monetary gain, or hacktivism, use targeted attacks and are active for years at a time. Kaspersky is observing nine active threat actors currently targeting organizations in Africa, with MuddyWater, FruityArmor, and Sidewinder among the most prominent.
