Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, a former WHO Chief Scientist, has been appointed the principal advisor for India's National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme on a pro bono basis. In her role, she will provide technical guidance, recommend policy directions, form expert groups, and assess the programme's impact. She previously served as the Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research.
