Conservation Minister Tama Potaka announced a $5m short-term fix to reinstate walking access to Cathedral Cove on the Coromandel Peninsula, damaged by Cyclone Gabrielle, in time for summer 2024-25. The track was closed since February 2022 due to several slips and extensive damage. The $25m boost for conservation projects includes $5m to build, open and maintain the overland walking access at the tourist attraction.
