Former French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been charged with witness tampering in relation to her husband, former President Nicolas Sarkozy's, alleged receipt of illegal campaign financing from Libya. Bruni-Sarkozy, placed under judicial supervision, is suspected of hiding evidence and associating with wrongdoers to commit fraud. The charges allege that she attempted to deceive magistrates investigating her husband on suspicion of receiving illicit funds during his 2007 campaign. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is banned from contacting all accused individuals except her husband, Nicolas Sarkozy.
