Canada has become a car theft capital, with over 800 vehicles stolen each month, many of which are shipped overseas. Interpol detected more than 1,500 stolen cars worldwide that originated in Canada since February, with approximately 200 more identified each week. Canada's car theft problem has escalated to a "national crisis" status, with insurers paying over C$1.5bn in vehicle theft claims last year.
