44-yr-old fishing trawler skipper, Maurice Reid, has been fined £10,000 for falling asleep during his watch, causing a collision with another vessel. On 15 January 2022, the Margaret Anne, under Reid's charge, hit the anchored Blackbird in the Shoreham area, off the south coast of Sussex. The collision caused minor injuries to the two Blackbird crew members. Reid admitted to failing to prevent the collision at Lewes Crown Court.
