UK Labour government replaces "levelling up" with focus on regional inequalities, renaming department Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
The UK's Labour government has removed the term "levelling up" from its policies, replacing it with a focus on addressing regional inequalities through action such as building new homes, investing in the NHS and schools, and improving transport and skills. The Department for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities previously held the term in its name, but the party has confirmed its removal. The department will now be called the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
