Supreme Court orders appointment of visually impaired Civil Services Exam candidate within 3 months, criticizes Centre for PWD Act non-compliance.

The Supreme Court has ordered the appointment of a 100% visually impaired candidate who cleared the Civil Services Exam in 2009 within three months, while criticising the Centre for failing to implement provisions of the Persons with Disabilities Act and fill backlog vacancies. The court stated there is a "gross default" on the part of the Union of India in promptly implementing the PWD Act, 1995.
