Pakistan's government permits ISI to trace calls and messages for national security.
Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI has been granted permission by the government to intercept and trace calls and messages for national security purposes. The Shehbaz Sharif cabinet approved a circular that allows a designated ISI officer, of at least grade 18, to carry out call tracing under the Telecommunication (Re-organisation) Act's Section 54. This section allows the federal government to authorize any person or persons to intercept calls and messages or to trace calls through any telecommunication system in the interest of national security.
