NATHEALTH proposes raising public health expenditure to 2.5% of GDP, rationalising GST for healthcare, and strengthening infrastructure for Union Budget 2024-25.
NATHEALTH, India's healthcare federation, has submitted a blueprint for Union Budget 2024-25, urging the government to raise public health expenditure to above 2.5% of GDP and rationalise GST for healthcare, with a uniform 5% rate slab. The industry body also called for strengthening healthcare infrastructure and addressing demand and supply-side challenges. Healthcare sector players expect increased funding for preventive healthcare programmes and expanding the reach of health insurance programmes like Ayushman Bharat.
