University of Otago receives $5M from HRC for lung cancer screening pathway development in NZ.

The University of Otago secured $5 million from the Health Research Council (HRC) to develop an effective, equitable lung cancer screening pathway in New Zealand. The Te Oranga Pūkahukahu project aims to improve lung cancer risk prediction using biomarkers and AI in screening, focusing on designing a programme for those who need it most, as lung cancer is a significant cause of death for Māori and non-Māori populations.
