7.1% severe maternal morbidity rate in surrogate mothers, double that of natural and IVF conceptions, found in a study at ESHRE 40th Annual Meeting.
A study at ESHRE 40th Annual Meeting reveals that surrogate mothers face a 7.1% severe maternal morbidity rate, roughly double the rate of both natural and IVF conceptions. The research analyzed 937,938 singleton births in Ontario, Canada, and identified higher risks of postpartum hemorrhage and hypertensive disorders among surrogates. Babies' health outcomes up to 28 days old remain similar across surrogacy, natural conceptions, and IVF.
