President Asif Ali Zardari directs completion of Kachhi Canal project in Balochistan, Pakistan, within 1.5 years to irrigate 713,000 acres of land. The federal government will provide funding for the project on a priority basis. Six strategic canals, including Kachhi Canal, are part of the Green Pakistan Initiative, aiming to boost agriculture, cultivable area, and livestock and fisheries potential.
