India's Supreme Court is reviewing the acquittal of serial killer Surendra Koli in the Nithari killings case by the Allahabad High Court, after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted petitions challenging the high court's judgment. Koli was initially convicted and sentenced to death, but the Allahabad High Court acquitted him in 12 related cases in 2023. The Nithari murders involved the killing of eight children and young women in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, between 2005 and 2006.
