Equinor, along with partners Petoro, Vår Energi, and TotalEnergies EP Norge, have initiated production from the first Lavrans well in the Kristin South area of the Norwegian Sea, marking the first phase of the Kristin South project. The project, approved in 2022, is expected to produce 6.2 GSm3 of gas and 1.9 MSm3 of oil, totaling 58.2 million barrels of oil equivalent. Locally awarded contracts have created 4,000 person-years of employment, with the project having a low CO2 intensity and a technical lifetime until 2043, with potential for further extensions.
