9,370 vehicles impounded for traffic violations in Lagos State from Jan-June 2024, according to LASTMA GM.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has impounded 9,370 vehicles between January and June 2024 for alleged traffic violations, according to LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki. The impounded vehicles included 3,034 private cars, 1,849 cars, 549 buses, and 636 SUVs, along with 6,336 commercial vehicles comprising 5,101 buses and 1,235 articulated vehicles. A total of 517 incidents were recorded during the period, with 77 overturned vehicles and 440 minor accidents resulting in 256 casualties. LASTMA advises motorists to obey traffic rules and respect traffic managers.
