Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu ordered local government and education authority officials to return diverted ₦30 million meant for Sallah gifts for workers or face serious consequences. Governor Aliyu expressed disappointment over the misuse of funds and emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and prudent management of public funds. He also declared a public holiday for the Islamic New Year.
