18-year-old Alberta transgender student, Remi Laboucane, was upset after discovering he and other transgender students at Foothills Composite High School had been deadnamed in their yearbook. Deadnaming refers to using the name a transgender person was given at birth instead of their chosen name. Laboucane wrote a letter to the school principal, expressing that this was not acceptable and needed to be corrected.
