61-year-old Sharon Ann Schmalzreidt from Wabasha, Minnesota was sentenced for stealing over $3.7M from her employer to meet demands of a "romance scammer". She pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge and restitution was set at more than $3.7M. Schmalzreidt began an online relationship with a man claiming to be "Erik Lockwood" who claimed he needed money for $7M owed to him in Dubai, promising to pay her back.
