WWE's Shinsuke Nakamura accompanied Rei Tsuruya to the cage at UFC 303, after a prior acquaintance led to Nakamura training with Tsuruya's father during his own MMA days. Tsuruya's father requested Nakamura to be in his son's corner, which he gladly accepted. Nakamura enjoyed the atmosphere at the UFC event and noted he was once approached to fight in the UFC, but remained loyal to NJPW.
