Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has criticised former Union Minister P Chidambaram for calling the three new criminal laws "drafted by part-timers". Dhankhar called Chidambaram's remarks an "inexcusable insult to the wisdom of Parliament" and demanded he withdraw them. Chidambaram has previously raised concerns about the new laws, which replaced the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act.
