US Air Force's Sentinel ICBM program cost increases from $95.8bn to $160bn, endangering other modernization plans.

The US Air Force's program to replace aging nuclear missiles has increased in cost from $95.8bn to around $160bn, endangering funding for other modernization plans. The Sentinel Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program, managed by Northrop Grumman Corp, aims to replace the Minuteman III missiles. Its latest price tag has risen by approximately $65bn since a 2020 cost estimate, which could force the Pentagon to scale back the project's scope or time frame.
