Supreme Court to hear plea for free sanitary pads and separate toilets for girl students in July.

The Supreme Court will hear on July 8 a plea seeking free sanitary pads for girl students in classes 6-12 and separate female toilet facilities in all government-aided and residential schools. Congress leader and social worker Jaya Thakur filed the plea, highlighting challenges faced by economically disadvantaged adolescent girls in schools. The Centre is currently working on a national policy for distributing menstrual hygiene products to schoolgirls.
