Sinn Fein overtakes DUP as the largest party in Northern Ireland's British parliament.
Sinn Fein has made historic gains in Northern Ireland, overtaking the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) to become the largest party in the British parliament for the first time. This marks an electoral clean sweep for Sinn Fein, which has also become the first nationalist party to win the most seats in the devolved Northern Ireland assembly and at council level. The DUP has faced significant losses, including the defeat of Ian Paisley Jr., the son of former Northern Ireland First Minister and party founder Ian Paisley.
