Northwestrepair exposed a scam where relabeled RTX 3080 Ti GPUs were fraudulently sold as RTX 4090s using a pin-compatible GA102 die.
A scam involving relabeled RTX 3080 Ti GPUs as RTX 4090s was exposed by Northwestrepair, a repair shop. The scammers used a GA102 die from the RTX 3080 Ti, which is pin-compatible with Nvidia's latest AD102 "Ada Lovelace" chip, to pass off older GPUs as new RTX 4090s. The shop discovered high core resistance, a giant scrape on the board, and dead shorts on components, revealing the counterfeit nature of the cards.
