A month and a half delay in charging Vitali Stefanski for the murder of his ex-wife Tatjana Stefanski led to fear and consternation in the Lumby community. Despite concerns, BCPS clarified that the delay was not due to a shortage of Crown prosecutors. Vitali Stefanski was released from custody after the discovery of Tatjana's body but was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder on May 31.
