Keir Starmer appointed James Timpson, CEO of Timpson Group, as the new minister for Prisons, Parole and Probation. Timpson, a prison reform advocate, believes "only a third of inmates should actually be in jail." He has previously advocated for shorter prison sentences and rehabilitation programs for offenders. As the prisons minister, Timpson will work on reforming the UK's prison system and reducing imprisonment rates.
