Prichard Water Works & Sewer Board reported a 444,125-gallon sanitary sewer overflow from July 4-5 due to heavy rainfall. The overflow reached Gum Tree Branch, Chickasaw Creek, and Toulmins Spring Branch, prompting the Mobile Health Department to advise against contact with standing water and recreational activities in these areas, as well as to thoroughly cook seafood harvested in the region before consumption.
