Ekurhuleni Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza appointed Jongizizwe Dlabathi as new MMC of Finance, replacing EFF's Nkululeko Dunga due to deteriorating ANC-EFF relations in Gauteng. Dlabathi, a council whip since 2016 and Gauteng Provincial Chairperson of South African Local Government Association, brings extensive local government expertise. The mayor believes Dlabathi's appointment will strengthen institutional capacity and financial stability.
