Chinese scientists developed a DNA-based aerogel with 100% solar reflectance for radiative cooling, reducing ambient temperatures by 16°C.

Chinese scientists developed a biomass-derived cooling material using DNA to create an aerogel that reduces ambient temperatures by 16°C on sunny days, even under intense solar radiation. Combining DNA and gelatin, the aerogel surpasses 100% solar reflectance, aiding radiative cooling to help meet carbon reduction targets and mitigate environmental pollution. The study was published in Science journal.
