Asylum seekers hit a new record of 114,006 in Australia, with 40,877 living in the country who have been refused at both primary level and Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Despite additional $160m allocated by the Albanese Government to tackle the issue, the monthly asylum application rate has also increased. The primary level backlog stands between 32,000 and 33,000 for the past six months.
