Trainer Darren Weir received a two-year ban for using a jigger on three racehorses in 2018, in addition to a previous four-year disqualification for possessing three electric shock devices. The Victorian Racing Tribunal deemed this a "fair and appropriate penalty" for the animal cruelty charges. The penalties will be served concurrently, and a later date will determine if the penalty starts from 2019 or today.
