Nintendo has announced it will no longer repair Wii U consoles, citing a lack of replacement parts. This follows the closure of online services earlier this year, making multiplayer gaming impossible. The decision comes as Nintendo focuses on its current generation console, the Switch. The Wii U, released in 2012, struggled to attract a significant audience and sold only about 13.56 million units during its tenure.
