ATCO and AltaLink are constructing a 130-km transmission line in central Alberta, supported by a $283.5m low-interest loan from Canada Infrastructure Bank. The $513m project will supply over 750MW of electricity to the grid, helping limit congestion and enable more renewable energy projects. The Alberta Utilities Commission approved the project in 2021, and major construction began this month.
