Indonesian conservationist Nyoman Sugiarto reports an increase in devastating mass coral bleachings in Bali. Ninety percent of the corals he had nurtured in Bondalem, northern shore, lost their color last December. Sugiarto links the early bleaching to warmer sea temperatures caused by climate change, which affect the coral's ability to retain colorful algae, making it vulnerable.
