Australia introduces a "world-leading" safety code for dating apps, requiring platforms to develop safety systems, ban violators across all services, and be monitored by an independent body.
Australia introduces a new "world-leading" safety code for dating apps such as Tinder, Hinge, and Bumble. The code requires each dating platform to develop their own safety systems and for those operating multiple apps to ban users who violate safety policies across all services. An independent oversight body will monitor compliance and assess and publish safety ratings on the platforms, following data showing alarming rates of sexual violence facilitated on these platforms. The code aims to improve user safety and is set to be fully operational by October.
