30-year-old driver, Christopher Dylan Joannidis, has pleaded guilty to five counts of dangerous driving causing death in a crash that killed five people on the Murray Valley Highway at Strathmerton, Victoria, near the NSW border. Joannidis failed to give way at a highway intersection, colliding with a Nissan Navara, which then spun out of control and crashed into a B-double truck, killing all five people inside. Joannidis and his female passenger sustained minor injuries, while the truck driver was hospitalised with migraines. The incident took place on April 20, 2023.
