Vale SA appoints Shaun Usmar to lead base metals division for copper and nickel production.

Vale SA has selected mining veteran Shaun Usmar to lead its base metals division, aiming to boost copper and nickel production. Usmar, with over 30 years of industry experience, was formerly CEO of Toronto-based streaming company Triple Flag Precious Metals. Previously, he held roles at Barrick Gold Corp, Xstrata PLC, and BHP Billiton. Usmar's appointment is still pending confirmation.
